Iranian president says US pressure will not yield results

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Sunday that the United States "will achieve nothing" through the new sanctions it has announced.

According to Al Arabiya, citing Iran's ISNA news agency, Pezeshkian stated that, given the measures taken by the Iranian government, Washington will not accomplish anything with economic pressure at this stage, just as it failed to do so during the war.

His remarks came after the United States vowed last Thursday to tighten economic sanctions on Iran "to push this regime toward collapse," nearly six months after the conflict began with the first American and Israeli strikes on Tehran on February 28.

In a related development, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said earlier on Sunday that the United States has been defeated by Iran both militarily and politically, and will also be defeated economically. He added that Iran will continue to consolidate what he described as the achievements of the war and confront the challenges it faces.

According to Al Arabiya, Ghalibaf told Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zaidan that the United States had suffered a "crushing defeat," attributing this to "the blood of martyrs, the efforts of the people, and the resistance front."

The Iranian parliament speaker also accused Israel of seeking to expand the scope of the conflict in the region, saying, "Israel's plan is to extend the war to other countries in the region." He stressed that if Israel had achieved victory in its war with Iran, the confrontations would have spread to other countries.
