Russia urges US and Turkey to clarify reports of arms supplies to Kyiv

Russia has called on the United States and Turkey to clarify reports that American weapons held by Turkey are being supplied to Kyiv, stressing that such arms transfers will not affect the course of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine but will harm bilateral relations.

The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed serious concern over information revealed by the US Congress regarding plans to transfer a large shipment of American weapons and ammunition from the Turkish military’s stockpile to Ukraine.

According to ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, as cited by Russia Today, US documents indicate the arsenal includes 12 multiple rocket launchers, more than 2,500 unguided cluster munitions, 47,000 cluster artillery shells, and 70 tactical missiles.

Zakharova criticized the ambiguity and contradictions surrounding the circumstances and terms of the shipment, questioning the motives of Washington and Ankara for opening a new front that could prolong the crisis and cause further loss of life, even as both countries claim to seek a political and diplomatic solution.

She emphasized that supplying more weapons will not alter the trajectory of Russia’s military campaign, warning that the resulting damage from such deliveries would be inevitable and multifaceted. Zakharova added that attempts to combine mediation rhetoric with arms supplies to Kyiv undermine mutual trust, especially given Turkey’s previous assurances that it would avoid providing lethal aid to Ukraine.
