Iran affairs researcher Aref Nasr said that Iran is testing the United States’ willingness to return to the negotiating table and revisit the memorandum of understanding.

Speaking in an interview with Al Arabiya FM, Nasr added that recent statements by Iranian official Masoud Pezeshkian in the US indicated Tehran may be open to US demands regarding uranium.

He continued that Iran has since hinted at the possibility of allowing International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors to visit facilities in Bushehr, Karaj, and Tehran. This, he said, suggests Iran is seeking to gauge the US reaction to renewed talks, but noted that Iran has a history of not always following through on agreements reached at the negotiating table.
