Iraqi security media cell says ready to assume full responsibility after coalition withdrawal

Iraq’s Security Media Cell has announced progress in negotiations to regulate the arms of armed factions and bring them fully under state authority, stressing that preventing attacks on neighboring countries or the Kurdistan region is a key principle of ongoing understandings. This comes as the withdrawal of international coalition forces nears and Iraqi forces prepare to assume full security responsibility.

According to Al Arabiya, the Security Media Cell stated, "We are capable of assuming full responsibility after the withdrawal of the international coalition. The process of consolidating arms under state control is supported by all political forces, parliament, and the judiciary."

The Security Media Cell also noted that dialogue with the factions continues regarding the implementation mechanism for regulating arms, and there are no obstacles hindering the completion of this process.

According to Al Arabiya, the Security Media Cell said efforts are underway to integrate the factions and their weapons into official institutions, adding that resolving the issue of factional arms is now only a matter of time.
