North Korea fires short-range missiles toward sea despite Seoul's objections

North Korea launched several short-range ballistic missiles from the Wonsan area toward the sea off its eastern coast, despite objections from neighboring South Korea.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed that the missiles traveled a distance of 250 kilometers, while South Korean and US authorities are conducting a detailed analysis of the missiles' characteristics.

South Korean and US intelligence agencies tracked the launches and exchanged information about them. The South Korean military continues to monitor North Korean activities and maintains readiness to respond firmly to any provocation as part of its defensive posture with Washington.

South Korea's presidential National Security Office held an emergency security meeting attended by the Ministry of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other relevant agencies following the launches.

The office called on North Korea to immediately halt its ballistic missile launches, describing them as a serious violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.
