US and Trump can pressure Israel to halt Lebanon war, says Nabih Berri

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has said that the US administration and President Donald Trump are the only parties capable of pressuring Israel to halt its war on Lebanon.

Berri warned against the "grave mistake" of failing to renew the mandate of UNIFIL forces operating in southern Lebanon, stressing that there is still time to avoid such a scenario.

He stated that the main obstacle to implementing the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon is Israel's failure to comply with the terms of agreements aimed at ending the conflict.

Berri also affirmed that Lebanon's right to pursue Israel for its crimes is a sovereign right that cannot be relinquished under any circumstances.
