Iraqi prime minister vows no red lines in fight against corruption

Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi affirmed on Monday that his government is preparing a strategy to build a new economic Iraq and create government departments free of corruption, stressing that there are no red lines in pursuing those involved in corruption.

Al-Zaidi, speaking during a meeting with government officials, said he is addressing the heavy legacy of challenges and unresolved issues inherited from previous administrations with a clear vision. He emphasized the important role of the Council of Representatives and the Finance Committee in supporting the government's work and its reform program, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

He added that the electricity sector will receive exceptional attention, calling on lawmakers to exercise their oversight role in supporting the government's efforts to combat corruption and eliminate its sources. Al-Zaidi also noted strong interest from major international companies to invest in Iraq, as well as readiness from global financial institutions to support the country economically.
