Yemeni armed forces launch operation in response to Houthi attacks in Marib and Hadramout

Yemen's armed forces have announced a military operation targeting Houthi fighters and their equipment, in response to what they described as repeated terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militia in Marib and Hadramout provinces.

The official spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces, Colonel Majed Al-Nazili, said the operation was conducted as part of the military's "legitimate right to defend its security and the safety of its heroic personnel," and to protect civilians from attacks that he said have resulted in casualties among both military personnel and civilians.

Al-Nazili explained that the operation demonstrated the unity of command and control within the Yemeni armed forces, stressing that an attack on any front or axis is considered an attack on all fronts and units of the Yemeni armed forces, across all formations and personnel.

The spokesperson held the Houthi militia and its backers fully responsible for the ongoing escalation, emphasizing that the Yemeni armed forces will not hesitate to protect Yemenis, their forces, or their positions, and will not allow their units to be targeted without response.

Al-Nazili stressed that any new attack would be met with the necessary and decisive military measures, in accordance with the directives of the political and military leadership and the requirements of the operational situation.
