US Central Command diverts 20 ships amid tightened maritime blockade on Iran

US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that it is continuing to strictly enforce the US-imposed blockade on Iran, affirming the ongoing presence of its naval operations in the region.

CENTCOM stated that as of July 29, US forces had diverted the course of 20 commercial ships, disabled two vessels, and boarded two others as part of measures to implement the blockade on Iran.

CENTCOM emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is an international waterway and that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has no authority to dictate navigation routes there.

The command added on the X platform that commercial vessels continue to transit the Strait of Hormuz with US military support.
