Arab Parliament Speaker Saad bin Sulayb Al-Otaibi reaffirmed the parliament’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken to protect its security, safeguard its resources, and deter any threats to its territory, describing the Kingdom’s security and stability as a cornerstone of Arab national security.

His remarks came during the opening session of the third sitting of the Arab Parliament’s fourth legislative term, held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.

Al-Otaibi said that the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia—targeting holy sites, airports, civilian areas, and economic facilities, and resulting in deaths and injuries—constitute a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international law. He said the Arab Parliament strongly condemned these attacks and called on the international community to take firm action to stop them and hold the perpetrators accountable.

He noted that the rapid challenges and transformations in the Arab world require a unified Arab will and joint efforts, emphasizing the importance of parliamentary roles and effective diplomacy in strengthening Arab positions on the international stage.

Al-Otaibi stressed that the Palestinian cause remains a top priority for the Arab Parliament, supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, especially the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international legitimacy, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the two-state solution.

He also highlighted the Arab Parliament’s condemnation of the terrorist attack targeting a church in Karak Governorate, Jordan, affirming full solidarity with Jordan and rejecting any threats to its security and stability.

Al-Otaibi called for an immediate end to the war in Sudan, protection of civilians, and a political settlement to ensure the country’s unity and stability. He reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and reconstruction efforts, and renewed support for Somalia’s sovereignty and unity, rejecting any measures that threaten its national cohesion.

He stressed the Arab Parliament’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and unity, condemned Israeli attacks, and called for their cessation and Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territory. He also affirmed support for Libya’s unity and sovereignty, and for the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council’s efforts to end the suffering of the Yemeni people and safeguard international maritime security.

The Arab Parliament speaker noted that the coming period requires a comprehensive plan to enhance parliamentary work and activate diplomacy, with a focus on economic, developmental, and technological issues to meet the demands of the current stage.
