Yemen’s armed forces have announced the launch of a military operation targeting the positions and capabilities of the Iran-backed Houthi militia across several axes along the frontlines.

Army spokesperson Colonel Majid Al-Nazili said the operation was a legitimate response to defend the security of the armed forces, its personnel, and to protect unarmed civilians from repeated and treacherous attacks by the Houthi militia in the provinces of Marib and Hadramout, which have resulted in casualties among soldiers and innocent civilians.

He explained that the operation demonstrated the unity of command and control within the armed forces, stressing that an attack on any front or axis would be considered an attack on all fronts and formations of the armed forces and their personnel.

Al-Nazili held the Houthi militia and its backers fully responsible for the ongoing escalation, emphasizing that the armed forces would not hesitate to protect citizens, their troops, or positions, and would respond to any new attack with the necessary and decisive military measures as directed by the political and military leadership and dictated by the operational situation.

The Yemeni armed forces called on citizens and all Yemeni tribes to rally behind the armed forces, support the government, and work to restore state institutions and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, after the militia looted resources, imposed levies, damaged the economy, dragged the country into regional conflicts for foreign agendas, isolated Yemen from its Arab surroundings, and spread sectarianism and division within its social fabric.
