Trump says China, Russia pledged not to sell arms to Iran

US President Donald Trump stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged during a meeting in Beijing not to provide or sell weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran under any circumstances, emphasizing that this commitment also applies to Chinese companies.

Trump said he trusts President Xi's commitment due to the nature of their relationship, noting that Xi has done him "great favors," as he put it.

Trump added that Russian President Vladimir Putin also assured him that Russia would not sell weapons to Iran, despite the ongoing war in Ukraine. He noted that he remains in regular contact with both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Trump clarified that the United States does not sell weapons directly to Ukraine, but rather to NATO countries, which pay the full price. He said he is not aware of how those weapons are distributed.

Beijing and Moscow unlikely to support Iran militarily

Trump pointed out that China and Russia, often mentioned in discussions about Iran, are not involved in the ongoing conflict. He argued that their participation would be highly detrimental to their own interests.
