Turkey pledges continued support for dialogue between eastern and western Libya

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Wednesday that his country will continue to support efforts to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between eastern and western Libya, and contribute to peace, stability, and prosperity in the country.

In a post on X following his visit to Tripoli and Benghazi, Fidan described the trip as a concrete reflection of Turkey’s policy of supporting a “united Libya” without distinction between the country’s west, east, or south. He noted that he held extensive talks in both cities on Libya’s political and security agenda and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Fidan stressed that Turkey views its own security and stability as inseparable from Libya’s, adding that Turkish-Libyan cooperation in security and defense is a strategic element that delivers tangible benefits for Libya’s stability and regional security.

Fidan began his visit in Tripoli, where he met with Libya’s Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh. The two discussed the political process in Libya, regional developments, and security issues.
