A United Nations-appointed international commission has accused Israel of committing crimes against humanity against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including genocide, torture, rape, sexual violence, and persecution. In a new report released Monday, the commission concluded that Israel continues to carry out acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The commission stated in its report that "Israeli authorities and forces have committed crimes against humanity in the West Bank, including genocide, torture, rape, and other forms of sexual violence, as well as persecution. These acts are driven by overlapping discriminatory motives based on nationality, race, and ethnic origin."

The commission also found that Israel "continues to commit acts of genocide" in Gaza.

On Monday, the Hebron municipality announced that 3,189 people, including more than 200 infants and 32 people with disabilities, have been displaced due to the ongoing Israeli military operation in the city—the largest in the occupied West Bank—which began Saturday following an armed attack that killed two Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint near the city.

The municipality said Israeli forces entered the Ain Deir Baha neighborhood, home to the attackers, and ordered residents to evacuate their homes and leave the area, after Prime Minister Netanyahu vowed to launch a large-scale military operation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The operation followed an attack by two Palestinian gunmen on Friday that killed two Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint near Hebron. Photos from Agence France-Presse on Sunday showed a convoy of army vehicles and police cars accompanied by soldiers on a city street, which was closed to civilian movement.
