Taiz governor condemns attack on Mokha port as violation of international law

Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan said the shelling of Mokha port and civilian facilities constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

He added that such actions demand condemnation, accountability, and deterrence due to the threat they pose to civilian lives and the disruption of economic and humanitarian interests.

Shamsan called on the international community to assume its responsibilities regarding the escalation and violations, and to protect civilian infrastructure and civilians. He strongly condemned the targeting of Mokha city and port by Houthi militants, describing it as a direct attack on a vital economic facility and a threat to civilian safety.

In recent hours, the Houthis launched 44 drones targeting Mokha port and civilian sites along the western coast. Air defenses shot down 15 drones, and three out of six attempted attacks using explosive-laden boats against Mokha port were foiled.
