GCC meeting stresses diplomatic solutions for regional issues, says Qatar

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Gulf Cooperation Council meeting underscored the importance of prioritizing diplomatic approaches to achieve solutions acceptable to all parties.

The ministry added that Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, participated in a consultative meeting held today via videoconference with the foreign ministers of GCC member states.

During the meeting, participants exchanged views on current developments, ongoing negotiations, and efforts to advance practical understandings that help reduce tensions and strengthen regional security and stability.

The ministers also discussed ways to intensify coordination and consultation among GCC states regarding issues related to the freedom and safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring rights of passage and the smooth flow of shipping, trade, and supplies in accordance with international law, while safeguarding the sovereign rights of all Gulf littoral states.

The ministers emphasized the importance of continued joint action, prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions, and creating favorable conditions for building trust and reaching outcomes acceptable to all parties.
