Egypt says national detained in Israel is mentally unstable

Egypt's Foreign Ministry said that the Egyptian citizen detained in Israel after crossing the border fence had been missing from his home and is mentally unstable.

In a statement, the ministry added that Egyptian authorities have been following media reports about an Egyptian national crossing the border fence from Egyptian territory into Israel.

It further stated that the individual had been missing from his home since last July and is mentally unstable, and that steps are being taken to secure his return to Egypt from Israel.
