Iranian affairs expert Jaafar Al-Hashemi has said that Iran is applying double standards in its relations with neighboring countries.

Speaking in an interview with Al Arabiya FM, Al-Hashemi added that Iran is facing a significant crisis, as evident from its actions, and that its political conduct has strayed from reason due to internal confusion among decision-makers in Tehran.

He continued, saying that Iranian decision-makers are appealing to the United States by every means, noting that when they feel entitled to something, they insist on international law, but ignore the same laws when violating the rights of others.

Al-Hashemi also said that Iran is trying to impose a new reality that contradicts international maritime navigation rules by seeking to collect fees from passing ships, while regional countries and the United States insist on free passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
