Shipping traffic through Strait of Hormuz falls below 10-day average

Preliminary data on Tuesday showed that five commodity vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz, a figure little changed from the previous day but significantly below the 10-day average of 15 ships.

According to Reuters, initial data from ship tracking firm Kpler at 04:08 GMT indicated that two liquefied petroleum gas carriers and one bitumen tanker exited the strait, while two empty tankers entered the waterway.

These numbers may change, as some vessels typically turn off their transponders during transit.

Separately, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the United States will hold accountable those who financially enable the Iranian regime.

According to Al Arabiya, Bessent emphasized the need to maintain financial pressure on the remaining arteries of Iran’s economy, stressing that Iran must not be allowed to threaten international trade or use the Strait of Hormuz as leverage.

The US Treasury Secretary reaffirmed continued efforts to defend the integrity of the global financial system and to counter threats posed by the Iranian regime.
