US military assists 1,000 ships through Strait of Hormuz in 3 months

The US military announced on Wednesday that it has assisted around 1,000 ships in transiting the Strait of Hormuz over the past three months, noting that the southern route through the strait remains open to commercial vessels seeking to navigate this vital international waterway.

The military confirmed that US forces continue to strictly enforce measures imposed on Iran, adding that as of August 3, US Central Command (CENTCOM) had redirected 44 commercial vessels, disabled two ships, and boarded two others as part of its operations in the region.

The southern transit route in the Strait of Hormuz runs along the Omani coast. These measures are part of ongoing US operations to protect commercial shipping and ensure the continued flow of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important maritime passages for oil and global trade.
