Axios: US, Israel prepare major Iran strikes, Trump delays action

US President Donald Trump has ordered the military not to launch new attacks on Iran, resulting in a halt to daily strikes, according to two sources cited by Axios. The move comes as Washington awaits the outcome of talks between Iran and Oman on a possible agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

The report noted it remains unclear whether Trump’s decision to suspend strikes is limited to a single day or if the pause will continue in the coming period.

Axios said the US military is preparing plans for major operations against Iran, but Trump has not authorized their execution as diplomatic efforts and Oman-mediated talks continue.

The site added that Trump’s decision not to expand attacks on Iran came just hours after an Omani delegation arrived in Tehran for discussions on the Strait of Hormuz. Progress in negotiations between Muscat and Tehran reportedly prompted the US president to delay any escalation.

According to sources, Iran and Oman may reach an agreement on the Strait of Hormuz tonight or tomorrow, but any deal would be presented to Trump for approval, with no confirmation yet that he would accept it.

Meanwhile, Israel’s public broadcaster reported that the occupying state had been preparing to launch a strong strike against Iran on Saturday night, but Trump decided to postpone the operation.
