Obama urges unity after midterms, calls to prevent further harm

Former US President Barack Obama said the results of the midterm elections sent a clear message that Americans want a political approach that unites rather than divides them, and called for efforts to "prevent further harm."

In a post on the X platform, Obama added that these results would not have been possible without outstanding candidates running across the country, including in areas where victory was considered unlikely.

Obama expressed his gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure the smooth running of the electoral process, performing one of the most essential functions of American democracy.

The former president noted that although two years remain in current President Donald Trump's term, "our task now is to work diligently, make changes wherever we can, prevent further harm, and lay the foundation for the future."
