According to the official Saba news agency, the announcement was made during an expanded meeting chaired by Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Taher Al-Aqeeli in Aden, with Chief of the General Staff and Joint Operations Commander Lt. Gen. Sagheer bin Aziz joining via video link from Marib. The meeting included deputy defense ministers, the deputy chief of staff, heads and deputies of military bodies, and directors of Ministry of Defense departments.
The defense minister praised the heroism and sacrifices of the armed forces across all formations on the frontlines, paying tribute to the fallen soldiers who gave their lives defending the revolution, the republic, and national achievements against the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
Lt. Gen. Al-Aqeeli announced practical steps to implement the decision for general mobilization and public call-up, activating human and reserve mobilization tracks, organizing reception centers, and assigning relevant bodies to begin carrying out their designated tasks.
The defense minister affirmed the armed forces’ national and constitutional duty to defend the country and its sovereignty, defeat the Houthi militia, and restore state institutions. He stressed the importance of military discipline, mobilizing resources, and coordinating efforts until the capital Sanaa and all Yemeni territory are liberated.
For his part, the chief of the general staff said the general mobilization is a national decision requiring an organized transition to the highest level of readiness, unified efforts and resources, and enhanced military efficiency. He emphasized the need to complete the assessment of forces and requirements, organize call-up and reinforcement operations according to legal frameworks, maintain command and administrative hierarchy, ensure data accuracy, and respond swiftly.
The chief of staff called on all commanders to raise discipline and readiness, prioritize personnel welfare and basic needs, strengthen training and qualification, and work as a unified team. He stressed that the current phase demands a unified army, disciplined leadership, institutional decision-making, and comprehensive national effort.
Lt. Gen. Bin Aziz noted that general mobilization is a national responsibility that extends beyond the military, involving state institutions and society within their respective roles. This, he said, will strengthen the state’s ability to face exceptional circumstances and ensure the continuity of essential services for citizens.
Bin Aziz expressed his appreciation to the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, especially Saudi Arabia, for its ongoing support in various fields and its steadfast position alongside the Yemeni people, national unity, and armed forces in confronting the Houthi project.
The deputy chief of staff, assistant defense ministers, heads and deputies of military bodies, the director of moral guidance, and the director of the legal department reviewed the necessary procedures for implementing the general mobilization and call-up, as well as the tasks resulting from the mobilization decision at all levels of the armed forces.
