Shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) passing through the Strait of Hormuz rose in September to their highest monthly level since the outbreak of the US-Israel conflict with Iran, despite persistent security concerns and uncertainty, according to data from specialist analytics firms.

According to Reuters, S&P Global Energy reported a total of 19 LNG shipments passing through the vital waterway in September, including 13 from Qatar and 6 from the UAE.

Separately, data from Kpler shows that 21 LNG shipments in total passed through the Strait of Hormuz in September, up from 15 in June. In recent weeks, a greater number of LNG tankers linked to QatarEnergy, both loaded and empty, have crossed the strait despite the ongoing conflict.

Ship tracking data from Kpler and the London Stock Exchange Group this week showed three additional LNG carriers transporting cargoes from Qatar’s Ras Laffan export terminal outside the waterway. The vessels include Al Kharaib and Al Gharrafa, both associated with QatarEnergy, along with a third vessel.
