UK prime minister calls emergency meeting after incident near Fairford base

UK Prime Minister Andy Bernham has called for an emergency committee meeting to discuss the incident near Fairford base.

The move comes a day after a security incident occurred around RAF Fairford, an airbase used by US forces, where British police arrested five individuals near the site.

Police suspect the detainees of involvement in explosives and terrorism-related offenses, following a report that three vans were heading toward the military airfield, which has been used to launch strikes on Iran.

In his first comment on the incident, US President Donald Trump said the suspects intended to cause significant harm, adding that British and American authorities had already been investigating them for some time.
