WHO says Ebola outbreak in DR Congo remains far from under control

The World Health Organization has said that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo remains far from under control, despite intensive efforts to contain the current spread of the virus. The organization expressed hope that the outbreak could be halted within three months.

A WHO representative explained that response teams are continuing their work in affected areas, monitoring contacts and providing medical care to those infected. He highlighted the importance of working with local communities to ensure the effectiveness of preventive measures and to limit the transmission of the disease.

The organization also emphasized the need for logistical support and adequate funding to sustain awareness and vaccination campaigns, stressing that a rapid response is crucial to bringing the situation under control.
