Ukraine's air force said on Tuesday that Russia launched dozens of missiles and 166 drones at Ukraine in an overnight attack, mainly targeting the area around the capital Kyiv and the southern Odesa region.

According to the air force, as reported by Reuters, Ukrainian defenses shot down 142 drones, 31 out of 32 cruise missiles, and two ballistic missiles.

Earlier in the day, Russia's Ministry of Defense announced that Russian armed forces had carried out a large-scale strike at dawn on Ukraine's military-industrial complex, targeting facilities in Kyiv and its region, as well as Ukrainian military assets in the Black Sea.

In a statement cited by Russia's Sputnik news agency, the ministry said: "Last night, the Russian armed forces conducted a massive strike with long-range precision weapons from sea, air, and land, along with long-range attack drones, targeting facilities of Ukraine's military-industrial complex used for the production and storage of drones and cruise missiles."
