Yemeni prime minister: Close cooperation with coalition continues to counter Houthi threats

Yemen’s Prime Minister Shaye Mohsen Al-Zandani reaffirmed the government’s ongoing close cooperation with the Coalition to Support Legitimacy to confront Houthi threats.

He emphasized that protecting freedom of navigation and the security of maritime corridors is a collective responsibility, according to Asharq.

Al-Zandani noted that the Houthis’ continued threats to the security of the Red Sea and international shipping lanes demonstrate that they are advancing Iran’s agenda.

On Saturday, Yemeni government air forces launched airstrikes on Houthi missile and drone launch sites and weapons depots in the provinces of Marib and Al-Jawf, along the frontlines with the Iran-backed group.

Two Yemeni officials said the strikes were among the first offensive operations by the government amid renewed violence in the conflict, which erupted over a decade ago after a four-year truce collapsed.

The Coalition to Support Legitimacy confirmed it will continue to take necessary measures to protect its vessels and Saudi interests, and warned it would respond "without hesitation" if the Houthis persist in what it described as "hostile acts."
