Military analyst: Houthis target Marib for its economic importance

Military analyst Mohammed Al-Kamim stated that the Houthis are attempting to infiltrate Marib province.

Speaking in an interview with Al-Hadath TV, Al-Kamim explained that the Houthis insist on targeting Marib because it is an economic stronghold for the Yemeni state and stands in opposition to the Houthi project.

He added that the militia sought to capitalize on its recent gains in Mokha and the resulting boost in morale among its forces, moving towards Taiz in an effort to tighten the siege there, before shifting focus to Marib—a province they have targeted since 2014 for both economic and political reasons, as it is one of the main regions resisting the Houthi agenda.

Al-Kamim noted that the militia is concentrating its efforts on the southwestern front of Marib province and is avoiding a direct incursion into the city due to concerns over the potential costs. Instead, they are advancing gradually toward the oil facilities. Meanwhile, the armed forces are engaging in direct clashes, launching counterattacks, and repelling Houthi assaults in the southwest, inflicting losses on the militia across all fronts.
