British maritime authority reports cargo ship hit by unknown projectile in Strait of Hormuz

A British maritime authority has reported receiving a notification about an incident in the Strait of Hormuz.

The agency said a cargo ship was targeted by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Asharq.

Iranian media earlier quoted the Iranian foreign ministry as saying that contact had been made with the US side in New York through a Qatari mediator.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most complex issues in Iranian-US negotiations, with Tehran insisting on preconditions to control the waterway.
