Syrian presidential adviser hails SDF dissolution as 'day of joy'

Ahmad Mowafaq Zaidan, media adviser to the Syrian presidency, said the announcement of the dissolution and integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) represents a "day of joy for Syrians," describing the move as the start of a new phase that will end the era of militias in Syria and the wider region.

Speaking to Al Hadath TV, Zaidan said Syrians themselves are the guarantors of the SDF integration agreement, stressing that "there are no winners or losers" in this matter. He added that the current development lays the foundation for a "new, centralized Syria."

Mazloum Abdi, commander of the SDF, announced on Tuesday from the presidential palace in Damascus the dissolution of the forces he led, stating that their "mission is complete." He emphasized that the goal is to build a new, unified Syria for all its people.

Abdi explained that the new Syria envisioned by the agreement should include Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen, and Assyrians, and be a unified state that protects its citizens' future and ensures a dignified life for its children.

Zaidan linked the SDF integration announcement to Syria's internal situation, calling the move a "clear message to Sweida." He said, "Those who seek to align with the Israeli occupation do not represent the people of Sweida."

Discussing the next phase, the presidential adviser said, "The entire international community is investing in Syria," noting that the country has entered a new stage, different from previous years.

He added that some Syrians are trying to "pull the country back to before December 8," but stressed that "the era before December 8 is over."
