Zelensky says window to end war runs from December to summer 2027

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that there is an opportunity to hold peace negotiations aimed at ending the war, starting from the G20 summit scheduled for December and lasting until the end of summer 2027.

According to Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, Zelensky stated, "The window of opportunity to end the war extends from the G20 summit until the end of summer 2027, as the U.S. presidential election process will begin after that. We believe this is currently the most active period in which diplomacy could bring the war to an end. It runs from the end of this year until the end of summer 2027."

The last round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia was held in Geneva last February. Kyiv expects a visit from U.S. President Donald Trump's representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, following their multiple visits to Russia. Zelensky held talks with Witkoff and Kushner last July, during which they discussed ways to intensify diplomatic efforts to achieve peace.
