Egypt and France discuss de-escalation efforts in the region

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron discussed ways to achieve calm and reduce tensions in the region during a phone call, with particular focus on the conflict involving Iran.

According to an official statement from the Egyptian presidency, El-Sisi and Macron also reviewed the situation in Lebanon, Libya, and the occupied Palestinian territories, stressing the need to resolve disputes through peaceful means.

Macron expressed France's solidarity with Egypt following the incident involving two ships at Damietta Port last Wednesday, while El-Sisi conveyed Egypt's full support for France in light of the recent wildfires affecting several areas.

El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s readiness to provide all possible assistance to France in dealing with the fires. The two presidents also discussed ways to enhance security and peace in the Middle East.
