US embassy in Israel warns citizens of possible Middle East flight disruptions

The US embassy in Israel has warned American citizens of possible flight cancellations and airspace closures in the Middle East, citing escalating regional tensions. The embassy emphasized that the security environment remains complex, with the potential for unexpected escalation, and urged travelers to take necessary precautions against possible travel disruptions.

In a post on X, the embassy stated: "Due to rising tensions in the Middle East, the security situation remains complex, with the possibility of unexpected escalation. US citizens should exercise increased caution, remain alert, and be prepared for potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and other travel disruptions."

In a statement issued on Friday, the embassy called on American citizens to exercise the highest degree of caution and remain prepared for any disruptions that may affect travel.

The embassy also advised American travelers to check the status of their flights directly with airlines or by monitoring the official schedules for Ben Gurion and Haifa airports.

It confirmed that regular consular services, as well as emergency assistance, remain available. The embassy urged all US citizens in the region to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive the latest security updates and facilitate communication with the embassy in case of emergencies.
