Explosion heard in Iran's Shiraz after blasts on Qeshm Island

Explosions were heard on Thursday in Shiraz, the capital of Fars province in southern Iran, following reports of earlier blasts on Iran’s Qeshm Island.

Iranian media did not specify the source of the explosions, nor did they clarify whether they were the result of US strikes.

US President Donald Trump has issued warnings to Iran, stating that he is seriously considering resuming large-scale military operations against the country, which could involve strikes more extensive than those carried out during Operation "Overwhelming Fury."

In a brief interview with Axios, Trump said he had not set a timeline for a decision. Two other US officials confirmed that the White House has not yet issued any new orders to the military, and no final decision has been made regarding the operation.

Trump acknowledged that such a decision would have significant consequences, but emphasized that he has not yet made up his mind.

The current military escalation has pushed oil prices above $100 per barrel, while the prospect of a return to full-scale war faces widespread opposition within the United States.

Earlier on Thursday, Trump threatened the Houthis and Iran with "major military punishment" after Yemeni militias carried out missile and drone attacks targeting oil tankers in the Red Sea.

On his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, "The United States will hold Iran responsible, as the Houthis are a proxy and/or agents of Iran, and major military punishment will be imposed on Iran, and of course on the Houthis themselves," if further attacks are carried out.
