Kremlin welcomes Trump call for Ukraine to halt attacks on Russian energy sites

The Kremlin on Monday welcomed President Donald Trump's call for Ukraine to halt attacks on Russian energy, economic, and civilian infrastructure, saying any country could use its influence over Kyiv to encourage greater flexibility.

The Kremlin stated that Russian forces continue their operations across Ukrainian territory and affirmed that these operations will persist.

Trump had urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to stop attacks on Russian diesel fuel facilities, arguing that such strikes are causing fuel shortages.

The Kremlin's remarks come as US efforts to revive negotiations between Russia and Ukraine continue, following meetings in Moscow and Kyiv by Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and a subsequent phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Moscow has recently expressed hope for the resumption of talks with US mediation, although ongoing disagreements between Moscow and Kyiv continue to hinder progress toward a settlement.
