Iran says talks with Oman have made progress in recent weeks

Iran's foreign ministry said that negotiations with Oman over the past weeks have seen progress.

The ministry added that the return of normal maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz requires an end to US measures, threats, and the maritime blockade.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that the talks with Oman are focused on navigation routes in the Strait of Hormuz, but stressed that the United States must accept Iran's conditions for shipping to resume. He noted that Qatar and Pakistan are exchanging messages with Tehran, but these are not negotiations.

Iran's actions against vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz continue to pose serious threats, as Tehran seeks to assert control over the strait and has set conditions such as the payment of transit fees. The United States has rejected these proposals during the (indirect) negotiations.
