Pakistan urges full implementation of UN Gaza ceasefire resolution

Pakistan has called for the full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, emphasizing the need to ensure unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, establish a permanent ceasefire, and launch a political process leading to the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, told a Security Council session on the Middle East that the ceasefire agreement for 2025 and the plan proposed by US President Donald Trump presented a significant opportunity to alleviate humanitarian suffering and advance peace efforts. He also warned that any delay in implementing the resolution and the plan could undermine prospects for a just and lasting peace.

The ambassador called for a halt to settlement activities and rejected any attempts at annexation, forced displacement, or demographic changes in the occupied Palestinian territories, in line with Security Council resolutions.

He expressed Pakistan’s concern over regional developments, urging all parties to exercise restraint, de-escalate tensions, and fulfill their commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the region.
