UAE official says targeting Gulf states and Jordan has failed

Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the president of the United Arab Emirates, said that the policy of targeting Gulf states and Jordan has proven unsuccessful, stressing the need to seek realistic and sustainable political solutions to the ongoing crisis.

In a post on X on Monday, Gargash stated that a state of neither war nor peace cannot be a lasting solution, calling for de-escalation and the restoration of normal maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

He added that the necessary solutions must address both the political and economic dimensions of the crisis, starting with practical steps to restore stability to the region.

Gargash also noted that a new, more pragmatic approach is now essential, moving beyond the memorandum of understanding, which has so far failed to provide a practical and acceptable roadmap.
