Trump expected quick end to Iran war, says New York Times

The New York Times has reported, citing officials, that US President Donald Trump entered the war with Iran expecting it to end quickly, despite warnings about declining American ammunition reserves.

According to the officials, the US military was forced to withdraw munitions originally allocated for forces in Asia and Europe, due to depleted stockpiles caused by military operations during the conflict with Iran.

The newspaper noted that the ongoing military operations placed increasing pressure on US weapons and ammunition supplies, at a time when Washington had assumed the war would be brief.
