Mecca Agreement seen as foundation for regional order, analyst says

Political analyst Muneef Amash Al-Harbi said the Mecca Agreement represents a foundation for building a regional order, noting that current circumstances have made it more mature and ready for implementation.

Speaking to Al Arabiya FM, Al-Harbi explained that since 1948, the region has suffered from the absence of a sustainable regional system capable of ensuring stability, and he believes the new agreement could help address this gap.

He stressed that the Mecca Agreement should not be seen as a source of division within the Arab or Islamic communities, but rather as a complement to existing agreements and an extension of efforts to strengthen regional cooperation.

Al-Harbi added that the agreement marks progress compared to previous accords, highlighting that it will cover multiple aspects, giving it greater capacity to address the region’s issues and challenges.
