Russia says it shot down 502 Ukrainian drones overnight

Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems intercepted 502 Ukrainian drones over several Russian regions during the past night.

According to a statement from the ministry: "During the night, on-duty air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 502 fixed-wing Ukrainian drones over the regions of Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, and Oryol, as well as Krasnodar Krai, the Republic of Crimea, and the Black Sea."

The statement added that Russian forces destroyed a significant amount of Western-supplied equipment during the operation, including German-made Leopard 2 tanks, numerous American and British armored vehicles, and other tanks and vehicles provided by NATO countries, all of which were reportedly destroyed by Russian strikes.

The ministry also reported that Russian armed forces targeted a patrol boat escorting Ukrainian arms shipments in the Black Sea. The statement said: "Drones targeted a patrol boat in the Black Sea south of Odesa, which was assigned to escort cargo ships carrying weapons for the Ukrainian armed forces to Ukrainian ports."
