Trump tells UN: US economy now the envy of the world

US President Donald Trump said the American economy has become “the envy of the world,” stressing that the United States “leads in every field” and that “the future of the United States is very bright.” He made the remarks during his address to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday.

Trump added that the United States is “stronger today than ever before,” and described the US military as the most powerful in the world. “American energy fuels the world, and America is rising with growing strength,” he said.

The US president emphasized that his country has acted decisively and swiftly in facing international challenges, stating: “We acted with determination and speed to influence the global scene.”

In the same context, Trump said the United States is witnessing economic progress, linking this to the country’s strength and its ability to shape global affairs, and reaffirmed that the US leads in various fields.

Trump then turned to Iran, calling it “the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism” and urged the country to make a deal, but added that its leaders continue to refuse.

He said Iran had been “the bully of the Middle East,” but is no longer so, adding: “We eliminated Iranian nuclear facilities in airstrikes in 2025” — a statement that appears inconsistent given the future date mentioned.

He explained that after giving Iran “every opportunity,” he decided to intervene, saying: “After giving Iran every chance, I decided to act to ensure we never face a nightmare again.”

Trump added that the United States offered Iran economic cooperation in exchange for ending its nuclear program and support for terrorism, but Iran refused, which he described as “a big mistake.”
