Muslim World League welcomes UK ban on imports from Israeli settlements

The Muslim World League has welcomed the United Kingdom government’s decision to ban imports of goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as to impose restrictions on services linked to these settlements.

The League also welcomed the statement supporting a two-state solution issued by the foreign ministers of Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

In a statement, Secretary-General of the League and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, praised this important and responsible stance in support of the historical and legal rights of the Palestinian people. He called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities to immediately halt all violations by the Israeli government and to take effective and concrete measures against attempts to impose new demographic or geographic realities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including illegal settlement activities.

He also commended the strong support expressed in a statement by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt, for their steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people and their unwavering support for their legitimate rights, foremost among them the right to establish a state according to the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions, as the only path to achieving just and lasting peace in the region.
