Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has pledged zero tolerance in the case of a truck seized while carrying explosive materials, including the highly powerful C-4.

Salam said on X that security forces intercepted the truck in the Dahr al-Baydar area as it was traveling from the Bekaa Valley toward Greater Beirut, confiscating hundreds of kilograms of explosives and referring the drivers to the relevant authorities for investigation.

He acknowledged public concern following news of the seizure, especially since C-4 has been used in political assassinations in Lebanon's recent history.

Salam stressed that the government will closely follow the investigation to identify all those involved and uncover their motives, vowing to refer them to the judiciary for appropriate punishment.

He added that his government will not tolerate any attempt to undermine the country’s security and stability, and will act firmly against any weapons outside state control, whether in possession, transport, or use.

Lebanese authorities are continuing their investigation into the truck, which was carrying hundreds of kilograms of explosives, including C-4, from the Bekaa region toward Greater Beirut.

According to Lebanese daily Al-Diyar, government commissioner to the military court, Judge Claude Ghanem, will begin investigating the case on Monday, which involves the seizure of more than half a ton of TNT and C-4. The explosives have been placed in the custody of the Lebanese military police on Judge Ghanem’s orders.
