Iran’s Revolutionary Guard threatens to target ships in Kuwaiti, Bahraini ports

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said on Tuesday that ships docked at Kuwaiti and Bahraini ports hosting US forces or personnel would be targeted in response to recent US attacks on Iranian oil tankers.

According to Iranian state media, the Guard’s navy called on crews of oil tankers near Kuwaiti and Bahraini ports to evacuate their vessels immediately, warning that they could be targeted.

Earlier, a US official said American forces had targeted several Iranian tankers linked to the Revolutionary Guard in response to renewed attempts to launch missile attacks on a US Navy warship.

On Saturday, US Central Command announced it had destroyed or disabled three Iranian oil tankers in retaliation for Iranian rocket attacks on two US Navy vessels.

The latest Iranian warning marks a new escalation in Gulf maritime tensions, as Washington and Tehran continue to exchange attacks and risks to shipping intensify.
