Trump seeks deal with Russia and China to end Ukraine war, analyst says

Oragh Ramadan, director of the Al-Auras Center for Strategic Studies, said US President Donald Trump is banking on a deal with Russia and China to end the war in Ukraine.

Speaking in an interview with Al Arabiya FM, Ramadan added that US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to bring offers and exert pressure on Kyiv, noting that the US-Russia draft agreement will be presented again, with Trump aiming to impose it on Ukraine.

He explained that the arrival of Trump’s envoys in Kyiv signals a message combining incentives and pressure, as Trump wants to end the war ahead of the US midterm congressional elections.

The Al-Auras Center director continued that Trump is seeking a trade-off with Russia and China to pressure Ukraine, pointing out that the US president has acknowledged a shift in the military situation after Russia gained the upper hand on the front lines.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has temporarily halted strikes on Kyiv amid debate over a ceasefire proposal by Ukraine along the front line, coinciding with the US envoys’ visit aimed at containing the conflict.
