China imposes restrictions on US entities in response to Washington measures

In response to recent measures taken by the United States, China has imposed a series of restrictions on US agencies and other entities, following US actions targeting Chinese telecommunications firms, laboratories, the drone sector, and other technology goods.

These steps mark the latest escalation in a broader cycle of trade and technology tensions between the United States and China, as Washington has tightened restrictions on China's access to US technology and markets, citing national security and human rights concerns.

According to Reuters, Beijing also noted that Washington last week added more than 40 Chinese entities to the list of organizations subject to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act.

In response, Beijing has imposed controls on the export of rare earth elements and other goods vital to US industrial supply chains, as well as sanctions on specific US companies it believes have aided Washington or exerted pressure against Chinese interests.

On Thursday, Beijing imposed business restrictions on seven US entities, tightened export review procedures for drones sent to the United States, and halted the use of US-based agencies for certain inspections required under China's product certification system for quality and safety standards.

China also announced that exports of drones to the United States, along with their key components and related technology, will now be subject to strict case-by-case review, without the benefit of licensing facilitation.
