The official spokesman of the Arab coalition forces supporting legitimacy in Yemen, Colonel Turki Al-Maliki, said on Tuesday morning that two drone planes launched by the Houthi terrorist militias towards Saudi Arabia, were shot down.

"At exactly 10:30 pm on Monday, the Air Defense Forces of the coalition intercepted and shot down an explosives-carrying drone launched by the Houthi terrorist militia towards a residential area populated by civilians in Abha," Turki Al-Maliki said in a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Turki Al-Maliki added also that "At exactly 11:47 pm on Monday, the Saudi-led coalition air forces managed to intercept and shot down an explosives-carrying drone launched by the Houthi terrorist militia towards Saudi Arabia, in the Yemeni airspace".

Colonel al-Maliki said that "the Houthi terrorist criminal instrument targets civilian installations and structures, and none of their objectives has been achieved. All of them have been revealed and dropped. We affirm our legitimate right to defend our country," he also added: "We also confirm that we continue to neutralize the hostile capabilities of the Houthi".

On Monday, the UN Security Council called for accountability for the perpetrators, planners, and financiers of the attacks on Saudi Arabia.

The Security Council said in a statement: "We sympathize with the victims of the attack on Abha airport and support the Saudi authorities in its war against the terrorist Houthi militia," condemning the attack in the strongest terms.

The council considered that the attack on Abha airport violates the international law and threatens the international peace and security.

The Houthi militia targeted Abha airport, 200 kilometers north of the border with Yemen last Wednesday, injuring 26 civilians and passengers of different nationalities, including three women (Yemeni, Indian, and Saudi) and two Saudi children.
