TheSaudi Ministry of Defense announced its participation in the world's largest navalmaneuvers led by the United States and dozens of friendly countries to deterthreats to the freedom of navigation and free flow of maritime trade in theGulf.

The SaudiMinistry of Defense said in a statement that the Royal Saudi Arabian Navy isparticipating in the world's largest naval maneuvers, the InternationalCombined Multinational Maritime Exercise (IMX 19) at the US Central Command inthe northern Arabian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, the Arabian Sea, and the coasts ofthe Republic of Djibouti during the period from Oct. 21 to Nov. 12 withparticipation of 56 countries and 6 international organizations.

Itis the most comprehensive exercise in the world that aims to strengthen therelationships and interoperability between the supporting forces and maritimesecurity operations by working together between participating forces, with theaim of deterring threats to freedom of navigation as well as demonstrating theglobal resolve to preserve freedom of navigation and free flow of maritime trade.
